The Foundations

Results at Manchester United haven’t been consistent enough. We can talk about Amorim all day long. However, we have to remember that this is a manager who knows what the club is about since he was within the club as an understudy. Amorim has adapted in some ways with his tactics.

But at the same time, he’s one of the youngest managers in the premier league. Yes, he’s been in the role for a year but there has been signs of improvement. Fundamentally we just don’t have the squad to really do what he wants to do yet. I think most Manchester United fans get that.

Of course, results will determine his longevity, but dismissing what we know already about the man is ignorant.

Under every manager there has been a cycle that has led to the downfall of that manager. At some point, you have to break that cycle and gather momentum through the ways of building a foundation in the team. That work began in the last transfer window, but it’s no way over.

There is still a lot more to do and at times these inconsistencies will show. If we’re looking at other managers like Glasner as the answer. He plays the same, what would he offer with the same team right now? What are our ambitions at this moment? That’s what every Manchester United fan has to ask themselves.

We already know, it’s being in Europe. If he manages to get us there, as we’re on the road to, then why wouldn’t we continue to support that amount of progress? Even if at times the team struggles to get a result that matters at any point.

It’s all about where we are around the latter end of the season. As frustrating, as being a fan is at times. We have to see the situation as we see it. Not gloss over the fact that mistakes will happen from this manager as he continues to grow into the role himself. That’s exactly why I continue to back him. Also why, he deserves to continue to get the investment to continue the work on getting us in a moment where we can be more consistent in the way he wants us to be.
