Could it be that we now know just a little bit more about what Sony’s plans are? Not only is the PS5 Pro going to get an upgrade with PSSR. Which is going to give us just a taste of the graphic prowess of Sony’s mega-money upgrade.
It doesn’t stop there, because the PS6 is going to get the beefed up version for a next generation where it could truly change the game. Of course, some will say they’ve heard this all before and have their doubts on what the next generation will bring us. But also, what we’re seeing is gaming taking that next step in realism.
This could be an upgrade not just in the graphical compartment. It could lead to us having more smarter NPC’s, and a much more diverse and smarter pathways in how game-play is developed both narratively and within its world. The last two generations have been a build up to get to this moment.
It’s only because of the work that’s come before where the work that’s coming next can really start to align with where gamers want their whole gaming worlds to go next.
That’s certainly an important step in progressing and pushing the envelope in the development area to allow the creators’ vision to truly be realized. If we get even a fraction of the improvement in GTA 6. Which is a game, I believe is going to be next generation just in the level of detail and game-play that we’re potentially going to get.
That could be the game that really shows again why it’s the torchbearer in open-world design and where games can go next. Just the level of detail is setting this one up to be of great importance to the gaming industry as we move forward into another generation. One where developers will have technology at their disposal like never before to make games to truly be visualized as intended. Where at times in previous generations there were always constraints.
I see the next Elder Scrolls being just one other game. Which could match that level of anticipation with what we have coming in terms of next generation technology not only through new upscaling technologies, but AI as well, and how that’s going to be utilised not just graphically but elsewhere. As gamers, hearing the fact that these are still a few years away allows both Sony and Microsoft to truly set up the platforms to take gaming to a level that wasn’t possible before, but is now.
The next generation is going to be a console generation that leads and becomes more inline with the PC (as is the case with Xbox). But it is clear also, Sony is leading with the use of its non proprietary technologies. It might be so groundbreaking that it sells you on next generation.
