From Billy Idol to ‘Orbit’: How I Became a Miley Fan

I became a fan around the time Miley Cyrus released her collaboration with Billy Idol, “Night Crawling,” which appeared on her 2020 album Plastic Hearts — a record steeped in an ’80s rock vibe, with big guitars, synths, and guest spots from the likes of Billy Idol and Joan Jett. Being a Manchester United fan as well felt like a natural fit, too. But honestly, this new song “Orbit” that she’s just put out, while very different from her earlier offerings, has really grabbed me. It’s the fourth track on Bass Persuades, her tenth studio album, which dropped on September 18th, 2026 — her first full-length release credited simply as “Miley.”
