We all know what Manchester United represents. So when a co-owner of Manchester United comes out and speaks about a really sensitive topic of discussion within the United Kingdom. It’s going to ring a lot of alarm bells. Is there some truth to what Jim is saying? Maybe. We all know the country has had many problems with numbers. However, to pre-determine with no evidence whatsoever about immigration ideals while also claiming they don’t contribute is a step to far.
In a really high volatile moment for this country politically where hate is becoming the norm in essence. I just find this coming from a co-owner of Manchester United to be pretty staggering in tone, at a time when Manchester United do not need to be in the spotlight for the ‘wrong’ reasons. Not only is this a really brazen take, it’s not taking into account how people do contribute overall. The UK has always been welcoming and an outward country just not on this level and it does need figuring out. We simply cannot blame all issues on a specific demographic when the issues go deeper than that within how we’ve acted as a country over the last few decades in government.
In fact, we’ve had years of governments that haven’t helped. We need a calm and forthright way of dealing with these issues which isn’t stereotypical. We simply don’t need more hate and division at a time when our country needs clear direction and time to get it’s house in order.
Action needs to be a balanced view on the principle of acceptance and fairness. Especially for the people who choose to come here legally who want to contribute to this country, while also dealing with the issues that are there. We do not need a society that is partitioned up into a hate campaign based on really vulgar things about people who aren’t actually doing anything wrong.
That’s just not the way to go about it even if there is some truth in the levels of mass immigration that do need to come down in this country.
It’s going to be really interesting how Manchester United handles this one.
