PlayStation Ambitions

Marvels-Wolverine-Wolverine-battle-1

Sony has a commitment to publish at least a couple of PlayStation exclusives a year. Even with GTA VI on the horizon, I do not see that vision changing. There is a build up to Rockstar’s game as the best place to play on PS5 Pro with PSSR 2.0. There hasn’t been any significant uptake in support of PS5 Pro patched games as Sony has wanted. However, I see it only improving and GTA VI is a big part of that deal.

In terms of PlayStation exclusives, Sony is firmly back on track and building up to the PS6 in a big way. I think they are quite quiet for a reason, and they certainly have a task on their hands to get people on board with the next generation. If there is any gaming company that knows how to deliver for its fans and how to pull them in that’s PlayStation.

They still have competition with Xbox, in the sense that, Microsoft is now starting to deliver more games and even though some of these games are coming to PlayStation. They will certainly endeavour to get the best out of their studios. That’s just the principle of the brand no matter how quiet they are or who is actually leading the brand at the time. So anyone that believes that it’s the end of competition. I think they are going to be quite surprised that they actually aren’t as accurate as they would like it to be.

The industry has changed and competition is just something now that has a firmly different meaning. The reason I think that’s a good thing is nobody is going to be closed off from playing the games they want to. As we’re seeing, Xbox is making bank on PlayStation. I firmly believe PlayStation will do the same in their own way. It really has untapped potential for more revenue, if anything, Microsoft has shown that it has had success in this area. Even if its hardware is no longer in the discussion anymore. They have shown they don’t need it to be in essence.

PlayStation’s ambitions will only get stronger and so will their adaptability. Community and content by the very definition being their driving aim. That leaves only Nintendo who I have no doubt will remain ‘as is’ and leverage their content strictly in their own way that is beneficial to them.
