Are Xbox Games A Hard Sell?

outer

As we know, Game Pass is bringing a lot of value to those who choose to play that way. However, for those who want to pony up and ‘own’ the physical release. It’s going to cost you a premium. Most are wondering, how much data will be on the disc? Obviously, with how everything is heading digitally these days. Not a lot I’d imagine. The options are there for us to play our way but this hobby is changing when it comes to pricing whether we like it or not. Not that it’s acceptable, it’s just the reality and we’re all having to adjust to that.

I think what we’re finding is that these game prices are not phasing Nintendo fans – as of yet. In fact, the Nintendo Switch 2 is selling out and I have no doubt Mario Kart World will be one of the biggest sold games both digitally – as it’s packed in. And also, physically.

However, when Xbox joined into this whole saga. It did so with the intention of offering you a choice. It does this in the form of paying a premium or just playing via Game Pass. There is no doubt in my mind that Microsoft is going heavy with Game Pass and offering that option. This will of course only be a sell to a proportion of those that want to play that way. It seems to me that if you want to play on anything other than Xbox or a PC then it’s going to cost you. Is it the right move?

For those that want to support Xbox games on PlayStation. I am not sure it’s going to matter. Is it the case that because it’s on Game Pass it devalues the game and it makes it look like a bad deal? Maybe, but at the same time, no matter how you want to access a Xbox game. It’s at least great to have that option without being tied into the Xbox ecosystem.

Of course, sales will come into it as well and most I’d assume will vote accordingly in that regard. Whether it will matter all that much to those that just want to play within their preferred platform on mass, time will tell.
