How Game Pass Could Get Better

When Microsoft decided to put the price up for Game Pass Ultimate. I spoke about how they would’ve done this on the basis of adding more to it. Reports are coming from Pure Xbox, that this is exactly what’s happening but there has been no rule out about a further hike. Microsoft could do numerous things in order to make the top tier more attractive. Including entertainment apps, adding more value with more third-party games being part of the service.

They could potentially look to add Ubisoft + premium or other similar services that makes it more appealing in the long-term against PlayStation Plus. Then, there’s obviously things around the cloud that could be beneficial for those that play using Game Pass Ultimate.

The premium editions of games are getting insane in pricing these days. If you’ve seen the Forza Horizon 6 premium edition for Xbox Game Pass. You know what I am talking about. They could make it easier to allow full access to this content for extra moo-la. Although, unlikely. As the majority of gamers prefer ownership anyway. However, this could meet the same level of what Ubisoft + provides and service Xbox fans expectations for how they choose to play.

We don’t know the full extent of how far they will go, but these are all options open to them to increase the value proposition, while also obviously making more profit on that Xbox Game Pass Ultimate tier.

We’re all on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for a reason. It does provide value even though we don’t own anything. However, these days, what do you actually own? We’re moving into a point where everything comes at a cost even when it’s seemingly free.

The prospect of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate getting an upgrade is intriguing to say the least. Of course, it might not do anything to prompt PlayStation to do more with Plus. However, with their premium version and the light uptake on that. They might actually follow up in improving it on the basis that Game Pass Ultimate is doing better than that in terms of this top tier subscription.

Obviously, that will not matter to most PlayStation fans. I know how Extra is an absolutely amazing value. What I am saying though, is this is the kind of upgrade that gets the competition to look on with intrigue and it could be good for Sony fans in the long-term no matter how that comes about.
