That Fulham game that we just won in such United fashion. That was the United Way. It was also the biggest test that we passed. Under Carrick we’ve displayed the know-how of being able to fight for the win through perseverance and sticking it out until the end just like the Fergie days. Amorim wasn’t the problem, I still stand by that, he brought most of these players in but he wasn’t the full recipe.
Carrick is providing the full ingredients by giving these current players something we didn’t have. Of course, the consistency that Carrick has talked about which underlines the whole persona of what a United team should be. It’s gone up a level because Carrick knows how to get the best out of these players and the formation is something the club has now settled on.
He’s certainly shown that in his first stint and now in his second it’s becoming abundantly clear that he’s showing that he’s able to transfer how the club should be performing onto the pitch. I have to say, whoever is going to be making the decision if he keeps this up. I wouldn’t want to be them. Fans are starting to believe and the aura has come back.
Of course, there are still many games to play but these last few weeks have been an absolute delight to be able to see and after so many years of instability. If the higher-ups did decide to stick with Carrick and he was able to maintain this momentum with a plan. Then who wouldn’t want to see him manage Manchester United full-time? If you look around Liverpool are struggling, Man City are going to be losing Pep. Arteta has shown that through his knowledge of Arsenal it’s putting them into a position after years of not quite being there where they’re actually getting closer.
There are some really strong managers out there no doubt. But do they know Manchester United and what it represents? Of course, people will look at the Solskjær era with caution and rightfully so. The way I am looking at this though is through a very different lens.
I am seeing what the manager at Arsenal is doing and he wasn’t a high-profile manager at the start of his stint. I think in Micheal Carrick, he could be the one to really challenge the status quo of actually needing someone who really needs to have the full managerial credentials. That gets the club, and can get the best out of Manchester United.
Because right now, Carrick is doing that, and although, I am not getting ahead of myself. I truly feel it can be different this time. But we shall see. We’re seeing a blueprint. That’s for sure.
