The way Manchester United played against Manchester City wasn’t just admirable, it was the best I’ve seen us play a game of football in years. Where our attack philosophy and the United Way truly kicked in. People might already be deciding that Carrick is the right fit for a full time position. He certainly fits the profile of what Manchester United as a club would want to take on. He’s English, he’ll listen to the ownership. It certainly fits the bill. And while all this alation is going on over a result.
It couldn’t be more imperative that we keep our feet firmly on the ground because it’s just one result. I’ve spoken. As has many others that this team needs to build a consistent pattern of results with that United Way of playing being deployed before we can even think about getting carried away with where we are.
Sure, we can enjoy the result. It would be insane not to, but we have the same ownership issues and the same unpredictability in terms of player performances. Our midfield will still need reinforcements. I mean, when you look at that Manchester City game. It was Casemiro, now 33 years old, that was one of the hallmarks of that result. And while, sure, experience is key, so is our ability to bring extra quality just like the other teams are doing to continue our push forward before we can even think of thinking how we can mould the upcoming academy prospects into this team.
Because ultimately, we need a consistent environment based on performances and stability and for us to get all that comes down to the most important thing. The most important thing is getting the next appointment right. And if they got it wrong again. They’re going to have to take all accountability and ownership of that. Until then, I enjoy the result and I support Carrick in everything he does with this team going forward.
