We’ve not been as assertive in the transfer market as Manchester United could be. However, there is some stuff to be positive about at the club. This is obviously all going to be a big process that takes years rather than months. What is hindering us at the moment is not the signings but our inability to move players off the wage bill. If we could do that then we have the potential to bring more youngsters into the first team that are ready.
Of course, that’s the positive news but the negative is not being able to move players on. If there was a plan this summer transfer window. I don’t think having four of the players that have come out and said they want to move on, and stay (as of this moment) potentially was it. So in that respect, it’s bringing the motives of the club into disrepute. Obviously fans are getting annoyed by the very lack of progress, but there are things going on within the club that suggest something is building up for Amorim in terms of youth development.
Instead of moaning about our unfortunate situation. I have come to accept ‘where we are’ and that progress does take time without feeding into that sense of ‘it’s all going to be okay’ when we’ve done very little. But at the same time, I see a plan, the real evidence will be when this team starts changing and working for the Amorim system. Amorim is doing a fine job trying to get rid of the bad attitudes but the club is failing him right now. For Manchester United to move forward. We need the football people at the very top to actually be better. Especially with the outgoings and player power.
It’s gotten to the point where Manchester United fans have to take into consideration how bad we are on the pitch and choose to reject commercialism. Anything else isn’t supporting our once great football club in the right way, it’s actually supporting the owners and their greed and misrepresentation through exactly that. So when fans from across the globe choose to buy the new shirt. This needs to be taken into account a lot more often than it has in prior years if they cannot accept this situation for what it is and how bad it is on the pitch.
I mean that’s a talking point right there. But at the same time, there are positive moments going on around the football club. It’s just a case that the optics in the media are choosing to focus on things that actually do more harm than good.
As we head into the new season. My hope is we can see some progress in the pre-season up until the point where we start the new campaign. Absolutely, this is going to be difficult and we certainly need more in the transfer window to get over the line. But at the same time, we just have to pay the fees and stop messing other clubs around and build that momentum. As it’s not going to be built for us.
